Overview
Heavy Industry, or “how we make things", is responsible for roughly 30% of the global greenhouse gas emission problem. To simply stop making things is not an option.
The intent of this session is to describe potential ways – or “big opportunities” - to combat the environmental impact of making things -- through technology and behavioral change.
Big Opportunities
These “Big Opportunities” constitute the most important knowledge take-aways for Manufacturing & Heavy Industry. They aim to essentialize solution modalities that address significant carbon emissions and/or environmental impact accrued by organizations, as well as provide the organizing premise for the suite of supporting resources found in this Track's portal:
-
Improving Materials
-
Improving Processes
-
Reusing Waste and Byproducts
-
Changing Behavior
